The Overbooked Bibliophile

In May, 2017, after living in Chicago for five years , I finally managed to visit the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway just a few weeks before we were supposed to move to the East Coast! A lovely detour on the way to visiting Maine! Spent a few wonderful hours at Orchard House in Concord, MA. Visited the longtime home (now museum) of the Alcott family and the very house "Little Women" was set and written in! A walk through literary history!

In December, 2019, we  visited Margaret Mitchell House ( now a Museum) in Atlanta, Georgia.   The author and her husband lived in a ground floor apartment in the building in the 1920 and early 1930s (then known as Crescent Apartments). This is  where she wrote the most part of her Pulitzer winning novel  "Gone With the Wind".   

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost: “The Road Not Taken” Our trip to New Hampshire would have been incomplete without a visit to The Frost Place in Franconia. The poet lived here with his family until 1920. Presently a museum (since 1976), it also hosts a residency program for emerging American poets allowing them to live and write in the house during summer months.
